- You will not be assigned an Advisor until you have attended this workshop.
- You must have an Active Application with our Program to register and attend this workshop. If you do not, you will not be allowed to attend.
Workshop Title: Initial Client Meeting (ICM)
Target Audience: This workshop is required for all new and legacy* Clients that have applied for UH APEX advisory & assistance services. If you have not applied, visit our website below prior to attending the workshop to complete our online application. Select the link “ONE-ON-ONE ADVISING” or Application (on the Navigation Bar/Main Menu) to start the process.
Workshop Description:
The workshop provides you with the foundational information necessary for doing business with government and to get you headed in the right direction. What you will learn includes:
- Why the UH APEX is a valuable resource providing you no-cost advisory & assistance services to help you compete for government contracts
- The importance of choosing an Action Plan “picking a lane” from Federal, State or Local Prime Contracting or Subcontracting
- How our Three “Rs” of Government Contracting Program – Register, Research, and Respond provide you with a structured process to educate and guide you on doing business with government.
All new and legacy* UH APEX applicants are required to attend this workshop as the first step after you apply.
Learning Objectives: This workshop will:
Provide you information to help you understand how the government procures goods and services
Outline what is required to become a government contractor/subcontractor, so that you may make an informed business decision about pursuing government contracts/subcontracts
Prepare you for your one-on-one (Initial) meeting with your assigned Advisor
A legacy Client is any Client that has not received at least 30-minutes of counseling/advising during the prior 12-month period.
Late Arrival Policy for In-Person Initial Client Meeting (ICM) Workshop:
The above workshop will begin at the stated time. If a registrant arrives more than 10 minutes after the 9:30a start time, the registrant will not be admitted nor will they receive credit for attending and will need to register for a future ICM. Also, a registrant will be required to sign-in & sign-out from the ICM evidencing their full attendance.
